A state appeals court Friday temporarily blocked a July 27th lower-court injunction against Waymo, thus allowing the company to retain 24-hour access to its Santa Monica charging facilities while the court considers Waymo's appeal.

The City of Santa Monica provided the following statement:

"This order temporarily pauses enforcement of the injunction while the Court of Appeal considers Waymo's request to overturn the trial court’s decision to halt overnight operations. The Court of Appeal made this decision without the benefit of the City’s opposition, which we are looking forward to providing no later than August 24 as ordered by the Court. To be clear for our residents, the order restores Waymo's overnight access to the Broadway lots for now. Waymo has confirmed that they intend to resume overnight operations this evening, and neighbors are likely to hear their charging operations again. What the order does not do is reverse or vacate the trial court's findings. We'll be urging the court to resolve this quickly. Residents have waited more than a year for quiet nights, and we maintain that the City is likely to succeed, as the trial court found."
