I am a tenant in the Archstone Smith building on Main Street. (Tuesday) morning we were shaken up a bit by a 5.8 earthquake. I had lived in California before and so knew what we should do. However, other tenants come from all over the world and they had no idea what was happening.
The people who build and run these apartment complexes should post instructions in each unit giving clear instructions what to do in an emergency. I would have expected that the posting of such messages would have been mandated by the Santa Monica City Council. There is no difference between a short term residence, such as 201 Bicknell, and a hotel.
