An array of trips, gear and non-fishing items will be auctioned off at the Wilderness Fly Fishers annual Conservation Super Auction today, March 16.

Founded in 1965, the non-profit group enjoys a long history of supporting conservation causes, including local stream clean-ups, protection of fisheries and the current restoration of Southern steelhead runs. The club also operates the wildly popular “Trout In The Classroom,” a program that teaches area elementary students ecology and biology by having them raise trout from eggs to release in the wild.

Among the offerings are numerous fishing trips to the most renowned fly waters in California and the West, as well as once-in-a-lifetime trips to some of the most sought-after trout and salmon streams in the world, including Alaska, Argentina, Newfoundland and New Zealand.

Also to be auctioned are an assortment of state-of-the-art fly-fishing equipment, gear and clothing donated by top manufacturers. And non-fishers can support the club’s conservation efforts by bidding on dinners at fine local restaurants, spectacular wines and tickets to a number of exciting venues.

The super auction will be held at the Olympic Collection, located at the corner of Sawtelle and Olympic. A silent auction will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner and a live auction at 7:30 p.m. The auction and parking are free and open to the public. Dinner is optional. For information and reservations call (310) 280-3459 or visit www.wildernessflyfishers.org.
