Winterlit Theater will offer a free children’s movie each Tuesday on the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The flicks will run through Christmas week.

The films and television shows will be shown on a 20-foot outdoor screen — with a hot chocolate vendor nearby.

Winterlit Theater, on Dec. 9, will open with Porchlight Entertainment’s “Jay Jay the Jet Plane Holiday Specials.” Children can meet Jay Jay the Jet Plane character. Disney’s “Rolie Poli Olie: Olie’s Winter Wonderland,” “Winnie the Pooh: Seasons of Giving” and “Winnie the Pooh: Very Merry Pooh Year” will follow.

“SpongeBob SquarePants,” “Blues Clues,” “Dora the Explorer” and “Oswald” will be screened Dec. 16.

On Dec. 23, Winterlit presents classic “Christmas Animations” — including “Howdy Doody’s Christmas,” “A Christmas Carol Tales from Dickens,” “Jack Frost” and “The Santa Clause.”

Winterlit Theater is a production of the Bayside District Corporation in conjunction with Santa Monica Film Festival. Proceeds from the event help benefit The Cancer Relief Fund.
