Future possibilities at the YMCA can be made possible if today can be sustained. The YMCA is in the midst of its 2006 sustaining campaign, “Making Tomorrow Possible,” with a goal of $180,000. All funds benefit the YMCA’s programs, providing a safety net for those in the community who might not be able to afford its services. The campaign is focused on how youth programs instill a sense of responsibility, education and leadership. It also is focused on how the YMCA is able to provide assistance to families that want the experience of engaging in traditional YMCA values, and how its older adults have a sense of belonging to a greater community.

By contributing to the annual sustaining campaign, the YMCA is able to reach out to families and individuals who might otherwise not be able to afford the services. Making the YMCA’s community programs accessible not only helps those in need, but creates a broader diversity within its walls, YMCA officials said.

Contributions can be sent to the Santa Monica Family YMCA at 1332 Sixth St., Santa Monica, Ca. 90401, or to make a credit card pledge, call Scott at (310) 393-2721.
