My family and I have know Judith Meister since my oldest child attended Grant Elementary school — he is now going to college (“Ready to move on,” page 4, Sept. 19). During these last 10 plus years, Mrs. Meister has always taken the lead regarding educational excellence, honest fund raising and classroom enhancements. Her commitment to our school children is only matched by her grace, style and wisdom. Whenever Judith came into any PTA meeting, the teachers’ and the parents’ enthusiasm moved up two notches. Clearly I support and believe in Judith Meister.
I understand her desire to secure a Santa Monicans for Renters’ Rights (SMRR) endorsement, but are we as a community better of now that she dropped out of the race for school board? I believe not. Running for public office is fitting and proper for Mrs. Meister and we need her on our school board. I urge her in 2010 to run again, this time with or without SMRR.
Mrs. Meister, you don’t need SMRR. You have all of Santa Monica behind you.
