The softball team at St. Monica has left last season’s losing record behind as it raced out to a 7-4 start in 2010. The team, currently on spring break, has started the Camino Real League portion of the schedule 2-2.

SAMOHI — Santa Monica High School’s embarrassment of basketball riches continues to pour in. The California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section released its All-Division 1-A teams Monday and Samohi Vikings are well represented on both the girls and boys squads.
Cory Laguardia, a junior on St. Monica’s girls basketball team, has been named to the All-CIF-SS Division 5A second team. She helped lead the team to a 15-14 overall record as the Mariners advanced to the second round of the Division 5A playoffs before losing to Campbell Hall.
